Lauren Roberts, LPC, ADHD-CCSP
Therapist for misfits, weirdos, and outcasts.
Virtual therapy for adults throughout the state of Louisiana
About me…
If you’ve ever felt like an outsider, a misfit, or been told you’re somehow both “too much” and “not enough”, welcome. My name is Lauren Roberts (she/her), and I’m a misfit therapist who is intimately familiar with the dark, scary places our brains go when our needs are thrown to the side, and with the chaos our brains create when they’re not accommodated. (Ok, sometimes even when they are.) I help anxious, neurodivergent, and chronically ill adults empower themselves to set boundaries, develop radical self-compassion, and create a safe space to unmask and process pain to move toward a more embodied, sustainable way of life.
Most (but not all) of my clients are either ADHD or autistic, so its important to me that the care you receive honors your unique needs. Feel free to fidget, move around, go off on tangents, and process however you need.
Credentials and Training: Graduated with my Masters of Science in Counseling Psychology at LSU-Shreveport in 2014. I am a Louisiana Board approved Licensed Professional Counselor, and am an ADHD Certified Clinical Service Professional. I work from an integrative perspective, utilizing elements of DBT, parts work, and person-centered therapy. For those wanting to incorporate somatic work, I am trained in Phase 1 Brainspotting with the intent to become Phase 2 trained in 2026.
As someone who works with marginalized folks, and who identifies as queer, disabled, and neurodivergent, I like to be clear about where I stand on the world at large, rather than leaving you wondering: I am pro-choice, queer-affirming, pro-science, pro-trans rights, disability justice aligned, and I believe that all of our liberation is connected. The work is incomplete if we are not also acknowledging the impact of systemic harm from capitalism, authoritarianism, classism, racism, ableism, and other forms of bigotry.
You’re not unreasonable for struggling to cope in all of this chaos - you’re doing the best you can to tolerate life in a world that has become increasingly intolerable and intolerant. For choosing to remain warm and gentle when the world goes harsh and cold. Never, ever lose that.
Soft on people, hard on systems.
A non-exhaustive list of things I enjoy: creating strange art, watching horror movies, delving into random hobbies (which I sometimes forget exist), seeing live music (especially punk, metal and adjacent genres), making memes, playing Dungeons and Dragons, video games, and playing with my 2 goofy dogs. Don’t worry. You’ll meet them. One of them thinks he’s a therapist.
Other stuff for fun!
I know it can be hard to find places you belong.
So come exactly as you are.
Bring your whole, beautiful, strange self, and we can make room together.
